    Self-Care Mastermind Community for Executives

We hear it all the time these days from our executive clients. Things like:

    • “I’m running on empty.”
    • “We’re responding to one crisis after another and have little or NO time for refueling.”
    • “I don’t know how much longer I can keep at this pace.”
    • I’m afraid I may be burning out.”

Leaders have the best of intentions when it comes to practicing self-care. But when it comes down to actually doing it, other more “important” things take higher priority. After all, business is business and the show must go on.

But there’s a high price to pay.

The inability to effectively manage the immense stress executive leaders face daily can result in much worse outcomes for themselves, their teams, and the businesses they lead. We’ve all heard the old saying, “Put your own oxygen mask on first.” As crucial as self-care is to keep executive leaders performing at their best, the reality is it’s far from common practice.

    Self-Care is Self-Leadership

What we’ve found is that, when leaders practice self-care regularly, it opens up pathways to clearer thinking and better decision-making, feelings of more joy and gratitude, and the behaviors they seek to reach their desired goals and outcomes. The focus of self-care is really on raising the capacity to lead yourself more effectively so that you can lead others more effectively. But it starts with you, the leader.

To address the dire need for self-care in executive leaders, Marcel Schwantes has developed an exclusive mastermind community where execs walk together through a six-month journey of self-discovery to master the essential behaviors and habits that will lead to better mental/emotional health and success on the job.

The demand for this program is high and space IS limited.

Is The Self-Care Mastermind Community Right for You?

    Overview: How It Works

Mastermind participants come together monthly in Zoom calls to share stories and ideas, troubleshoot issues, and get feedback to increase their awareness and learning around whole-person care and well-being — all in a peer-supported, roundtable format. These masterminds are skills-based and utilize the coaching process for self-discovery, action planning, and accountability.

In each session, participants will go over their weekly self-care action planning and provide feedback to each other. The extra support and peer accountability experienced in each mastermind will foster an environment for sustained learning and applicability.

Marcel Schwantes will provide expert coaching, facilitation, and education. But calls are primarily driven by participant engagement and weekly follow-up of their self-care action planning.

    Additionally:

    • The sessions will allow for each person to “go deeper,” fostering the practice and development of communicating with vulnerability and assertiveness – two very important qualities of a strong executive leader practicing self-care.
    • Every session is laser-focused on bringing back ONE self-care practice or habit to the team or organization in order to have an impact and get better results.
    • As participants get fresh perspective, knowledge, experience, and resources, they can brainstorm solutions to solve problems faster and advance their own goals and projects more quickly, while encouraging and motivating each other to take action to achieve their goals.
    The Structure of Sessions

Two-hour monthly Zoom sessions are expertly facilitated by Marcel Schwantes and designed for small group interaction and co-learning experiences. Here is a roadmap of what to expect from each monthly session:

    Month 1: Establish Current Reality

In this first month’s session, executives will assess the NOW and determine their current reality: where they are, what’s going on, what are they experiencing and feeling, what is their pain, and where are they stuck.

Month 2: Map Out Your Desired Destination

In this session, executive participants will venture into possibilities and explore the answers to questions like:

    • How do I want things to be different?
    • What does my desired path look like?
    • What do I see?
    • What’s the environment I seek?

    Month 3: Action Planning

The third month will leave executive participants inspired to take sustainable action with the support of their mastermind group community and expert facilitator. It’s their moment to create follow-up action plans for peak performance around the building blocks of whole-person care and well-being.

    Months 4 & 5: Implement, Review, Adjust

Executive participants will openly share their ongoing experience of the process and how he/she is implementing what they are committing to with a focus on self-development. In the true spirit of a trusted community, participants will share their observations and offer each other support and guidance. These two sessions help to ensure peer accountability, and that goals are being met. It also gives participants a chance to review their action planning and adjust to changing circumstances, accordingly.

    Month 6: Carrying It Forward

The last month’s session gives participants one final moment to connect with one another and reflect on implementing an “opportunity” for further improvement and a current “strength” to build on for optimal self-care.

Size of a Self-Care Mastermind Group

The ideal size of each mastermind is 5 participants. If it’s smaller, it loses its dynamics. If it’s bigger, some needs go unmet and personal sharing and authenticity is minimized. We aim for quality, depth, and a great learning experience that will last a lifetime.

Benefits of Joining the Self-Care Mastermind Group

Here are six reasons the Self-Care Mastermind for Executives is essential to better leadership and why you should sign up for it:

    1. Self-care can help you think more clearly.

Executive leaders have difficult decisions to make on a daily basis. These decisions often come with enormous stress and pressure. According to research, stress over time, if not properly managed, can negatively impact decision-making. Self-care facilitates healthy ways of coping with the effects of stress.

    2. Self-care helps you to reflect on what’s most important right now.

Whole-person care is crucial for setting healthy boundaries and managing expectations to determine the right course of action with confidence. This will serve you and those under your influence much more effectively as you consider options.

    3. Self-care can help you achieve more as a leader.

Regular self-care practice enhances a leader’s emotional intelligence, effectiveness, and productivity. When a leader is running on all cylinders, he or she is able to contribute more and add more value. This leads to peak performance.

    4. Self-care can help you bounce back from setbacks.

Part of self-care practice involves treating yourself with kindness and self-compassion when experiencing challenges, conflict, or failure. It’s detaching from unhealthy perfectionism and growing from your mistakes.

    5. Self-care helps you to experience more joy.

One of the higher forms of self-care is practicing gratitude. Research finds that daily gratitude practice can boost happiness and optimism, which can affect how you feel about others and how they feel about you.

    6. Self-care leadership practice is an example for others to follow suit.

Leaders who model self-care make it OK for others to do the same. Because self-care is a difficult practice to carry out in many organizations that see overwork as a badge of honor, leaders must change this belief system and facilitate a culture of self-care for peak performance.
